New photojournalism service launches in Portland and introduces a pay-it-forward model for corporate clients to donate event photography to local nonprofits

Portland, Ore. (February 1, 2016)—The popularity of corporate marketing through social media channels has increased demand for digital storytelling. Photography services are now a critical and valued part of any organization’s marketing efforts. Enter Portland’s newest corporate event photography firm, Portland Event Photography (PDXEP), a full service corporate marketing partner offering photojournalism services that leverage imagery to build brands.

Event photographer Doug Cody built a highly successful and popular digital communications business in the Bay Area serving clients like Cisco, Google, Sun Microsystems, Intuit, United Business Media and more for their convention, conference and tradeshow photography needs. He now comes ‘home’ to Portland to share his unique photography services and a heartfelt desire to support the nonprofit community: when a company hires Cody for a shoot, he offers them photography ‘credit’ to donate to their favorite nonprofit.

How it works.

Corporate meeting planners and clients hire PDXEP for their event photography needs and are then credited for the same hours, for photography work at their favorite charitable nonprofit. The meeting planners and clients are recognized for the contribution and the nonprofits receive external communications support. Cody’s objective is to continue to build a strong corporate photography agency while serving nonprofits with corporate credits and his donations.

I’d like to create a sustainable model to both serve my corporate clients and offer photography services to nonprofits to help them better market themselves, develop funding and further fulfill their missions,” says Cody. “It means donating my time for a nonprofit shoot, but with the corporate client’s support, we create a win/win scenario for all. Given successful marketing really requires the use of images for digital storytelling, I think we’re on to a valuable model.”

One of the things his clients love most about working with Cody is not only his profound ability to capture the human experience during events but a pay-it-forward model for them to support nonprofits with invaluable digital marketing services.

“Doug Cody has created a terrific model to enable the corporate community to support nonprofits with photography which is so important to our branding, outreach and development efforts,” says Dawn Hogh, senior director of development and marketing, Hope Services in the Bay Area. “Fundraising events are critical for most nonprofits’ sustainability and to have state-of-the-art photography to further memorialize our events, brand and market our efforts is invaluable.”

“The value is in what Doug provides from a price and result perspective as well as a genuine love of the nonprofit—an honest desire to help and give back,” says Hogh. “The ease of working with him and his expertise made it a pleasure and a huge relief at our biggest event of the year.”
