We Believe in Portland – City Cleanup
We Believe-in-Portland City Cleanup, a social and public facing event, sponsored by Adopt One Block, brought together volunteers, sponsor-teams, and community groups for a day of hands-on environmental stewardship in downtown Portland. Armed with buckets and pickers, participants fanned out across the city to remove litter and restore pride in the city of Portland. We documented the spirit of collaboration, civic pride, and positive action.
Event Details
Held in partnership with corporate sponsors and local organizations, this city cleanup focused on removing litter, clearing overgrowth, and re-imagining under-used streetscapes. Volunteers formed sponsor-team squads, cleaned sidewalks and alleys, and helped transform public space into a more vibrant part of Portland’s urban life.
Photography Approach
We approached the day with a friendly, unobtrusive lens, capturing close-ups of volunteers in motion, team shots of sponsor groups working together, and wide-angle environmental views of action and transformation. Our goal was to deliver images that feel authentic, community-driven, and usable for future outreach, sponsorship decks, and social media campaigns.
What the Community Gained
This cleanup showed how meaningful civic action can deliver immediate improvements and long-term benefits: cleaner streets, improved public perception, increased volunteer engagement, and stronger partnerships between nonprofits, businesses, and local residents. The images created for Adopt One Block help tell that story and motivate future participation.
